Drive on off the beaten track-roads through the Bavarian Mountains? But of course! We’ll take care of getting you there, getting you in, and getting you tapped into the secrets and insider’s knowledge that make this one of the world’s most fascinating destinations.
- Eagle's Nest at an elevation of 6017 ft (in winter Rossfeld summit)
- Salt Mines
- Kings Lake (photo stop)
Heading out south of Salzburg you will cross the German Border towards the first German village Markt Schellenberg. Catch your first glimpse of the Eagle's Nest and continue on an off the beaten track road towards the "Obersalzberg", pass the Sound of Music Meadow where Maria was singing the opening scene in the world famous musical Sound of Music on your way to the "Obersalzberg" Eagle's Nest bus terminal.
From that historical point we will access the Eagle's Nest with special busses and elevator. You will have 1 1/2 hours at the Eagle's Nest, time to get many ever memorable pictures and maybe also having lunch at the Eagle's Nest terrace overlooking the entire Bavarian Mountains. The very scenic view to the Bavarian Mountains, the King’s lake (Koenigssee) and the surrounding area of Salzburg will be an everlasting memory of your Austrian holiday. During the winter months, the tour might visit Rossfeld summit instead, to get a stunning view of the Bavarian Mountain and the Eagle's Nest.
Returning at the Obersalzberg your journey continues to the Kings Lake (photo stop) and further on to Berchtesgaden for visiting the 490 years old mines. You will enter by train, use the miners slides and finally cross a salt lake with a ferry boat before you will be driven out after a touring time of 1 hour 15 min. with the train again.
As we continue our journey, the town of Berchtesgaden will be next. Here, you will have free time for 1 hour to explore the town or have some lunch in one of the many Bavarian Inns in the pedestrian area of Berchtesgaden. From Berchtesgaden we will make our way back to Salzburg along the King's Lake River Valley.
Return to your accommodation or any other location in Salzburg at the end of the day.
