This 8-hour tour will show you the highlights of Hallstatt and the Lake District. The extra 2 hours can be used for visiting the ice caves, the five fingers, the Salt Mines, the Skywalk or just simply stay longer in Hallstatt.
Experience the outstanding natural beauty of the "Salzkammergut" lake country. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Hallstatt and the Lake District with its emerald lakes is simply one of Austria’s most famous and beautiful touring regions.
After beeing picked up from your Salzburg Hotel (or any other location in Salzburg) your journey starts with a drive on an off the beaten track road to the Lake District (Salzkammergut) on to Fuschl with Lake. Take a stunning photo of the castle of Fuschl with emerald Lake Fuschl in the background. Next highlight is the Wolfgang Lake with the villages St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang. Capture a picture of St. Wolfgang from a great view point. Next town is Bad Ischl. Driving through Bad Ischl, famous for the “Kaiser” (Emperor) Villa and the Café Zauner, on to Bad Goisern and Hallstatt.
You will have 2 hours to explore Hallstatt and all these sites on your own as well as to have lunch in one of the great lake side restaurants in the historical town center of Hallstatt (lunch is not included). It will take you about 3 hours to visit either the Ice Caves, the five fingers or the Salt Mines and the Skywalk.
The return drive back to Salzburg will take you via Gosau (including another great photo stop), Dachstein Mountain Range, Russbach and Golling.
