On this 8-hour tour you will see visit the very best of Bavarian Mountains with its world famous attractions. Most of your journey through the Bavarian Mountains will take you on off the beaten track roads, you will be delighted by the natural beauty of the area.
Heading out south of Salzburg you will cross the close German Border towards the first German village Markt Schellenberg. Get your first view to the Eagle's Nest and continue on an off the beaten track road towards the "Obersalzberg", pass the Sound of Music Meadow where Maria was singing the opening scene in the world famous musical Sound of Music on your way to the "Obersalzberg" Eagle's Nest bus terminal. From that historical point we will access the Eagle's Nest with special busses and elevator. You will have about 1 hour at the Eagle's Nest, time to get many ever memorable pictures. The very scenic view to the Bavarian Mountains, the Kings lake (Koenigssee) and the surrounding area of Salzburg will be an everlasting memory of your Austrian holiday. During the winter months, the tour might visit Rossfeld summit instead, to get a stunning view of the Bavarian Mountain and the Eagle's Nest.
Returning at noon at the Obersalzberg, the town of Berchtesgaden is next. You will have 1.5 hours to explore Berchtesgaden on your own as well as to have lunch in one of the typical Bavarian Restaurants.
After the stop in Berchtesgaden the next highlight of that tour is the visit of the 490 years old salt mines. You will enter by train, use the miner’s slides and finally cross a saline lake with a ferry boat before you will be driven out with the train again.
The last Bavarian Mountain highlight is the King's Lake, surrounded by towering rock faces, the emerald King's Lake resembles a fjord set in the Bavarian Alps. Enjoy a short walk to the Painter’s Corner, along with the magnificent view across the King’s lake to St. Bartholomew.
The return drive back to Salzburg will take you along the King's Lake River Valley.
